Adding to the scholarship: Yoga therapy in integrative pain care

Although devastating, the opioid crisis is only one symptom of the urgent need for a better approach to pain care. And while yoga therapy is not a cure-all for pain, it can be a viable contributor to the solution.

Recently, the International Journal of Yoga Therapy published an unusual article—the first “white paper” by the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Unlike research articles, literature reviews, or perspective pieces, white papers (historically named for the plain paper of their covers) are intended to inform specific groups, inspire future behaviors, and enhance relationships among various stakeholders, in this case including yoga therapists, physicians, all other healthcare providers, and healthcare policymakers.
